PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Give Today, Shape Tomorrow

SSVMS is proud to introduce Bridging Medicine: a bold step forward in how we serve our community. As the evolution of our long-standing philanthropic work, Bridging Medicine brings together our community programs (Future of Medicine, SPIRIT, Museum of Medical History, Medical Student Scholarship Fund, and the substance use reduction coalitions) under one unified vision, connecting care and inspiring careers.

That vision comes to life during Big Day of Giving, now through May 7.

For Big Day 2026, we're highlighting the Future of Medicine program, which opens doors for local students through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and real clinical exposure. For many, this is the time they first see themselves in a white coat.

Your support helps remove barriers and strengthen the healthcare workforce our community will rely on for generations.

I invite you to make a gift, share the message, and help us build what comes next.

Together, we are not just supporting medicine but shaping its future.

Thank you!

Rick Vitangcol, MD

SSVMS President

Volunteer Opportunity of the Month

Museum of Medical History

Are your high schoolers looking for volunteer hours? We are seeking volunteers for a small project with the Museum of Medical History. A large exhibit case needs to be cleaned out, artifacts cataloged, photos taken of each piece, and research done to identify objects and determine value.
